Red Deer College’s Series of summer art and fine craft workshops always provide a wide array of classes and talented instructors… 2013 is no exception!
Want to try blowing glass? Julia Reimer, Darren Petersen and Jeff Holmwood (who offers a two week course) will help you create objects to treasure. Brenda Malkinson will explore the flat surface in her painting on glass and woodblock printing courses while Susan Kristoferson shows you how to create your own handmade paper. Looking to hone your ceramic skills? Jim Etzkorn will improve your throwing technique and JoAnna Lange will bring your figures to life. If you want to explore jewellery or metalwork Linda Chow, Jennea Frischke, Crys Harse, Joan Irvin and Greg Lavoie will lead your discovery of forming, casting and materials. Want to work with something a little softer? Greg Lavoie will show you how to create a leather mask; Lyn Pflueger introduces various techniques to transform cloth; Linda McBain Cuyler will show how to use your sewing machine for free-motion embroidery; Darcy Gusse-Edinga shares her knowledge of painting on silk; and, Rachelle LeBlanc will introduce you to the techniques of rug hooking. There are many more courses offered from the contemporary to the traditional, such as Crys Harse’s willow basketry workshop.
