Create your own masterpiece in this introduction to the luminous art of silk painting!
Join Karin Thorsteinsson and learn the fundamentals of brush dying and wax resist (known as Bokashi Rozome) on silk to create beautifully layered images. In this half-day workshop you will brush dye a beautiful 12x12 inch silk hankie with a prairie landscape motif. No previous knowledge or drawing skill necessary.
Please wear something you wouldn't mind getting dirty with wax or dye, apron recommended! No loose-fitting clothing, no open toe shoes. Long hair should be tied back. Dyed may stain clothing, skin, hair.
There are two workshop times available:
9:30am to 12pm
12:30pm to 3pm

About the artist: Karin was born and raised in Calgary and has always found artistic inspiration in the natural world of Western Canada, from the rolling hills of Alberta to the dense forests on the coast. Karin has attended artist residencies in Iceland, Scotland and at home in Calgary. Every new landscape and culture experienced has influenced and informed her work.
