“Every piece of silk is hand stretched and dyes are brushed on and blended. Beeswax is then melted and painted on to create distinct layers and textures. The technique is inspired by the Japanese method of dyeing silk called Bokashi-Rozome.

Always inspired by the beauty of nature, each series is unique and always drawn from the Artist's own source material.”

Karin was born and raised in Calgary and has always found artistic inspiration in the natural world of Western Canada, from the rolling hills of Alberta to the dense forests on the coast. Karin has attended artist residencies in Iceland, Scotland and at home in Calgary. Every new landscape and culture experienced has influenced and informed her work.
