Cory Porterfield

Cory Porterfield was born and raised in Alberta, Canada. In 1992, Cory began attending the Alberta College of Art & Design in his hometown, Calgary. During this time he was awarded a number of scholarships in painting and glass. His experience and education include a semester at the Queensland College of Art in Australia, a session at Pilchuck Glass School in 1998, and assisting many local and international artists.

In 1998, Cory Porterfield received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in glass and diploma in painting.

During the summer of 1999, Cory was awarded an emerging artist grant from Canada Council for the Arts. For the grant he worked at Starfish Glassworks and produced a large body of work for the 3rd annual Canadian glass show. Later that same year Cory had two pieces purchased by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Presently Cory runs Norm’s Garage in Calgary. It took him 8 years to finish the build. It cost over $90k to build. His artwork work has been purchased throughout the world. Currently, he is working toward being an international designer and artist, producing unique glass, paintings and sculpture.
