On Friday, September 22 from 3:30 - 4:30pm please join Alberta Craft and artists Tanya Mustus and Lana Gal for craft demonstrations as part of the Portage College Native Arts & Culture Program: Legacy of Graduates Exhibition and Symposium.
Tanya Mustus is a Cree artist from Sturgeon Lake she is currently an instructor in the Native Arts and Cultural Program at Portage College Native Arts and Cultural Program in Lac La Biche. Tanya will be demonstrating her sewing process for making ribbon skirt appliques.
Lana will be demonstrating tufting. The process is first practiced with yarn which the public is welcome to try. She will also have the more precious caribou hair on hand to demonstrate the technique utilized in her work as seen in the Alberta Craft exhibition Portage College Native Arts & Culture Program: Legacy of Graduates
The demonstrations will take place in the hallway adjacent to the Alberta Craft Gallery.
Advance registration is not required and everyone is welcome.
The demonstrations are a part of Alberta Craft Gallery’s free public programming on September 22-23 in conjunction with the exhibition.
