Join Richard Boulet and Marilyn Olson March 19 for a workshop as we explore the therapeutic benefits of Craft.
In this workshop we will investigate an easy-going introductory approach to textile embellishment and connect about the benefits of textiles and mental health. Included in the workshop; participants will receive a Alberta Craft Council cotton canvas tote and learn/explore a variety of textile embellishment techniques.
Richard Boulet holds a Masters in Fine Arts where he specialized in textiles and drawing with a focus on mental health. He works at the Canadian Mental Health Association where he and Marilyn Olson, who herself is highly experienced in textiles, have had a collaborative art practice since 2019.
Stitching has always been linked to hearth and home and self-care. Gentle and repetitive hand work can do a great deal to soothe the soul. These rhythms that run so deep, straight to a person's core. There are so many benefits to mental health by pursuing textile art. This event is 18+. For the safety of all visitors, masks are required on site. Please note Programming will take place in our feature gallery located in our lower level, accessible by a flight of stairs.
