  • Alberta Craft Council 10186 - 106 Street Edmonton Canada (map)

As part of Edmonton Design Week, the Alberta Craft Council is hosting an intimate look into the studios of two of Edmonton’s leading independent furniture studios. The tour will begin at the Alberta Craft Council’s downtown Gallery location with a survey of Albertan craft artists creating functional and beautiful wooden objects. The self-driving tour will continue to the studio of Kenton Jeske, and Ralph Reichenbach as well as the adjacent Bay 1 Gallery. Meet the designers and experience an intimate tour of their creative spaces and processes with room for discussion with each.

Kenton Jeske is a woodworker; designer & craftsman of original handcrafted furniture. His work can be found in the homes of private clients, places of worship, restaurants, retail spaces and galleries. A furniture maker for over a decade, Kenton has developed a vernacular to his work that speaks to the integrity of materials, craftsmanship and finish that has reached clients like Louis Vuitton. Kenton can be found in his home studio shop designing and working to commission on furniture for patrons like you.

Ralph Reichenbach is a self-taught artist, furniture maker and designer having grown up in his father's wood shop. He attended NAIT in the cabinet making program, graduated the program in one year at the top of his class and then continued on as an instructor for two years. He specializes in the use of wood veneers and combines them with solid wood to create aesthetically pleasing, decorative and functional objects. His fine furniture pieces and wall hangings are often accented with the age-old craft of marquetry to create pictures that are inspired by his values and experience in life.

Bay 1 Gallery, founded by Ralph Reichenbach, is dedicated to representing a roster of Canadian artists spanning generations and cultures, expressing their craft in multiple mediums.  Current featured exhibition woodworker Dale Kalbfleisch will also in attendance.

We encourage you to bring a friend or two! Consider carpooling; feel good about saving on gas and enjoy craft conversations together!
