Blacksmith Workshop with Front Step Forge

  • Front Step Forge 902 B 77 Avenue Northwest Edmonton, AB, T6P 1M2 Canada (map)

Join artist blacksmith Shawn Cunningham at his studio and workshop Front Step Forge for an exploration of the hot forming of metals.

Join the Alberta Craft Council for a hands on workshop to Front Step forge!

Learn to explore hot die forming of metals without the massive amount of hand and arm strength normally associated with blacksmith work. Open die and closed die forging with manual powered screw and fly presses. These ancient Archimedean screw driven machines multiply human power to form metals with heat and pressure.

Shawn Cunningham is the owner and artist blacksmith of Front Step Forge since opening his doors in 1992. Come join him in his 30th anniversary year for a little therapeutic smashing of hot metals. Come explore the therapeutic benefits of using fire and hammers for their creative potential.

Two workshop time-slots available:

10am to 12pm

1pm to 3pm

Minimum age 16. Safety glasses provided. Masks recommended. Natural fibre clothing and sturdy boots or steel toe boots recommended.

Alberta Craft Tours may have aspects photographed and documented for ACC promotional purposes.
