Around Alberta - A Once-in-a-Lifetime Kind of Day in Bergen

A guided tour of the Museum of Fear and Wonder with Jude Griebel and a guided tour of Bergen Rocks Sculpture Park with Morton Burke.

The Museum of Fear and Wonder is a collaborative project by Brendan Griebel and Jude Griebel. It uses the dying tradition of the rural museum to highlight the psychological and narrative qualities of objects.

The Museum of Fear and Wonder was developed as part of a larger research interest in small museums. Small museums offer an intimate lens into the ways that people understand their world through physical objects. They are sanctioned places for individuals and communities to give material shape to their beliefs, morals and stories. They are monuments to a deep social, cultural and historical psychology.

Bergen Rocks International Sculpture Park is the result of 4 symposia hosted by Morton Burke on his acreage where the park is located. 23 sculptors from around the world have visited Bergen and left their legacy in stone behind.

Alberta Craft Council participants will enjoy customized guided tours of both locations. Bring you own lunch as participants will connect over a picnic lunch together. Beverages will be provided

This is a self-driving tour. You will need to leave Calgary at 10:30 to drive the 1.5 hours to Bergen. Expected return time is 5:30 pm.
