An exhibition of works by Edmonton craftsman, educator, and gallerist Ralph Reichenbach who grew up learning the craft in his father’s wood shop. Reichenbach went on to teach in the NAIT Cabinet Making Program. He is well known for his mastery of the marquetry technique; inlaying finely sliced wood veneers to build imagery and designs in the surfaces of his furniture and art. Ralph operates Bay 1 Gallery and Reichenbach Design with his wife Tricia DeJulia.
‘I like proven forms, shapes and principles that have been around for thousands of years... Post modern design challenges many of those proven principles. As I create new work in a postmodern world, I continue to have one foot in the world of proven form. From a modern perspective, I like blending the refined and organic.’ – Ralph Reichenbach
This exhibition and reception are programmed as part of Edmonton Design Week, with a Furniture & Design Studios Tour, including Ralph’s studio Bay 1 Gallery, on Oct 14, 2023.
