Julia Reimer

Julia Reimer (Black Diamond, AB) owns and operates Firebrand Glass Studio in Black Diamond with her husband and fellow glass-blower Tyler Rock. When first introduced to glass-blowing she knew immediately that she had found the right form to express her creativity. After graduating in 1996 from the Alberta College of Art + Design, she continued her studies through travels to the US, Scotland, Spain, France, Hungary and most recently Adelaide in Southern Australia. Her original designs and meticulous craftsmanship have been recognized through several awards including the first recipient of the national RBC Award for Glass.

The Nature of Glass

Focus on designing and blowing your own functional glass objects that will draw on the beauty of the natural environment for inspiration. Ideas and designs will be developed in the classroom and elements and inspiration will be incorporated into pieces in the studio. Through repetition, teamwork and experimentation, you will gain the confidence and skills to create your own glass pieces that reflect inspiration from nature.
