Calgary

Alberta College of Art + Design Extended Studies Program
Extended Studies Instructors are professional artists, designers and writers with active practices in their fields. They will help you make the most of your creativity by promoting critical thinking and problem-solving, and will teach you effective technical skills for realizing your creative vision. Develop your skills in the various classes ACAD offers: book arts, ceramics, fibre arts, glass, jewellery, metals, as well as art and design.

Art Centres
The City of Calgary has a wide variety of activities avaliable. Check them out at Calgary's two fantastic art centres:

North Mount Pleasant At North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre visual arts opportunities abound.  Our specialty is ceramics. In fact, this facility contains over a dozen kilns including electric, gas and specialty raku, sawdust, salt, and wood-fired.

Wildflower Arts Centre Express yourself though the arts. Wildflower Arts Centre will help you discover your artistic talents. In addition to our registered visual arts programs, we offer custom programs for groups, artist residency and school arts programs for students of all ages, and studio memberships for established artists.

Heritage Weavers and Spinners Guild of Calgary
Heritage Weavers and Spinners offers various weaving, spinning, dyeing and related fibre art classes throughout the year. Please note that all of our fibre arts classes are for adults only (18+). We'd love to see you—please register soon as class fill up fast.

In-Definite Arts
In-Definite Arts provides member artists with workspace, instruction and opportunities to explore diverse art media within a supported studio environment. We also encourage artists to exhibit and sell artwork in our gallery, and sometimes at other venues within the Calgary area. The diversity of creative arts offered at IDAS includes fiber-arts, ceramics, drawing, painting, glass, sculpture and assemblage.

Edmonton

Bedrock Supply
Bedrock is not only a retailer of essential jewellery and metal arts supplies; they offer a wide variety of courses as well.  This winter, classes include beading, wire working, silversmithing, enamelling, filigree, chainmaille, resin, metal clay, stone carving, and glass beadmaking.  Visit Bedrock’s website for more information.

City Arts Centre
Flex your creativity at the City Arts Centre!  Located by Garneau Park, the City Arts Centre hosts classes for pottery, silversmithing, stained glass, sewing, silk painting, and so much more.  Visit the City of Edmonton website to find your perfect class!

Harcourt House
Harcourt House Artist Run Centre runs a variety of art classes and workshops for adults, teens and children, as well as uninstructed drop-in drawing and sculpture sessions with live models.  Why not try out a class in clay handbuilding, mask making, drawing on clay, or even making your own birdhouse!

Edmonton Potters’ Guild
The Edmonton Potters’ Guild offers instructed classes for beginner and intermediate potters, two terms per year, consisting of 15 classes per term. The fee payment is an automatic membership to the Guild.

Edmonton Weavers’ Guild
The Edmonton Weavers’ Guild hosts a wide variety of classes: weaving, spinning, knitting, naalbinding, felting, and dyeing.  Search the list of classes to try something new or perfect your skills.

Northern Alberta

Beaverlodge Area Cultural Society – Beaverlodge
As far back as the early thirties, Euphemia McNaught had a dream that someday there would be a special place where artists, and would be artists, could gather to work and share their work and ideas. Today Euphemia’s dream is has created the Beaverlodge Area Cultural Society. The Cultural Centre offers great instruction in a variety of arts and crafts. This winter why not try a pottery, felting, rug hooking, wool spinning, fused glass or stained glass class.

Parkland Potters’ Guild - Stony Plain

Southern Alberta

Evanescence Gallery and Art Studio – High River
Having spent over 60 cumulative years working in the visual arts, as art educators, and cultural producers; Arlene Westen Evans and Stephen Evans are pleased to share their experience to support continuing artistic development.  Check out their website to see what classes are being offered.

High River Culture Centre - High River

Medalta - Medicine Hat
Our workshops are for people who really like to do things. Chances are, if you sign up for anything here, your hands are going to get dirty. Chances are, too, that you’ll love it.  We offer interactive field trips for children, pottery classes for adults, ceramic workshops for artists and community workshops for everyone else.  Check our site in February to see what we have to offer.

Red Deer College Continuing Education – Red Deer
Invest a little time in you. We think you deserve it! And we’ve got just about everything to keep your creative desires quenched: photography, painting, stained glass drawing and ceramics, with new courses being added all the time.  The opening of our brand new Centre for Visual Art has added great space for ceramics, painting and sculpture.  Register for one of our classes and come and check it out!
