Members kudo: Tyler Rock & Julia Reimer
Tyler Rock and Julia Reimer (Black Diamond) are both finalists for the Ranamok Glass Prize. The winners of this international art prize are awarded $15,000 and will have their work featured in a traveling exhibition. The Ranamok prize is considered the premier exhibition and prize for collectors internationally, highlighting work that displays creativity, skill and innovation in contemporary glass. The work presented for consideration is expected to be a major effort in the artist's personal body of work. The 2012 Recipient will join previous winners in the Ranamok Winner’s Collection. The Ranamok exhibition will open at the on August 15th at the Canberra Glassworks where the winner will be announced and travel throughout Australia to Brisbane and Sydney.
Tyler Rock and Julia Reimer have had long careers marked by successes both at home and internationally. Their work can be found in numerous public, corporate and private collections, including the Premier of Alberta, the offices of the Prime Minister in Ottawa, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the collection of Emperor and Empress of Japan. Their work can be found in galleries throughout Canada and will also be on display in Alberta at their annual Christmas Open House at their Firebrand Glass Studio in Black Diamond on December 1st from 11-5pm where there will be demonstrations of glassblowing for the public.
