David L. Lovett, Edmonton

David is a Professor Emeritus of the Drama Department of the University of Alberta. He was the coordinator of the MFA/BFA Design program and his specialization is in costume and set design, scene painting, and the history of "Dress and Decor". He has also taught at the University of British Columbia, the Banff School of Fine Arts, and most recently with Uta Birnbaum in a "Brecht Workshop" for the Aboriginal Acting Company. He studied at the Wimbledon School of Art in London England, where he won a bursary from the Royal Society of Arts in 1960. His design credits range from opera to vaudeville various theatre companies across Western Canada and the Stratford Festival in Ontario. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a member of the Associated Designers of Canada and Canadian Institute of Theatre Technicians. David has designed for the Group Coat and will be creating an ogee themed on The Masked Ball.
