Manola Borrajo-Giner, Edmonton

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Manola started her career as an artist after receiving a BA in Sociology. Her art training includes courses at the University of Colorado and the University of California at Los Angeles. She moved to Edmonton six years ago. Locally her work has been exhibited in Front Gallery and Panache. She has also been engaged in numerous private commissions. Manola works with acrylic on wood, always experimenting and trying to create new ways of representing things, objects, people, and nature. Working on The Opera Coat Project will provide an opportunity for her to combine her love of Opera with her abilities to express herself through painting. Manola is drawing inspiration for her coat from the opera Turandot. Manola was the artist for the coat, Inger Lorsignol designed it and Joanna Johnston put it together.
